Amanda Dabney

Dedicated dog lover.  Loyal member of the BeyHive.  Master of snarky sarcasm.  And HELLA smart.  These are just a few of the qualities that allowed Amanda Dabney to overcome her obvious deficits (an Ohio native and Buckeye fan who grew up in Wisconsin) to join the KSB crew.  We cannot tell you how excited we are for Amanda to be part of our team, as a lawyer, and also as someone to make the Michigan fans absolutely crazy.

Before we learned she was a Buckeye fan, Amanda infiltrated KSB as a law clerk for three years. If you have seen any member of the KSB team present since 2021, you’ve likely seen Amanda’s stellar work in building PowerPoint decks and researching the ever-changing school law issues in them.  Amanda graduated from law school, passed the bar and became an attorney with the firm in August 2024.  Amanda has already developed an expansive knowledge of laws that apply to serving students with disabilities and many of the other trending issues facing our clients, including social media and other tech-related issues schools face.  As KSB’s youngest attorney, Amanda “gets” education and what it means to be a partner to our clients while understanding the experience of kids who were born with an iPad in their hands. 

Amanda graduated with highest distinction (damn!) from the University of Nebraska College of Law.  Before that she got a Master’s degree in communication and advocacy from James Madison and a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Liberty University (its ok. . .  she’s ok. . . )  She worked in higher ed at the University of Nebraska-Kearney and served as a policy debate coach at James Madison before going to law school.   She’s been everywhere, man!  Not that finance/accounting, communication, advocacy, extracurricular coaching, policy experience, and elite legal chops are solid qualities in a school lawyer or anything…

Amanda is married to Cory, who works in higher ed administration.  They live in Lincoln and enjoy Friday night pizza nights, antiquing, and working on the farm (yes. . .  she plays Stardew Valley; yes. . .  she’s another KSB nerd).

Fun Facts

• Amanda is KSB’s only former bartender, at least in the sense she got paid to do it.
• Amanda cannot swim, despite growing up next to Pewaukee Lake (“the largest lake in Waukesha County’s Lake Country” according to Wikipedia) and numerous summers of  failed lessons.
• Amanda is a Starbucks junkie who placed in the top .7% of all rewards members in 2024.  Who really won in that exchange, Starbucks?
• Amanda’s favorite date night restaurant is Chili’s.  Good luck not singing the babyback ribs song in your head…
